  • Fine Gardener

    This opening is for Boston/Cambridge, North Shore and Cape Cod

    Parterre Garden Services, one of Greater Boston’s leading horticultural services and fine gardening companies is searching for eager individuals with a passion for gardening for our growing company. The successful Gardener at Parterre is interested in all aspects of horticulture from container design to the urban landscape, perennial garden maintenance and care, pest and disease identification, and promotion of sustainable practices in the green industry.     As a Horticulturist at Parterre you will have the opportunity to consistently learn and hone your skills in the field while maintaining some of the most highly regarded landscapes in the area. Our gardeners create and maintain landscapes for clients who truly appreciate our horticultural knowledge, craft, and professionalism.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintenance of gardens and landscapes
    • Care of woody, perennial, and annual  plant material
    • Container planting and maintenance
    • Create dramatic seasonal plantings and displays 
    • Mulching, fertilization, composting, cleaning of hardscape
    • Creative decorating for holiday décor projects
    • Communication with Field Manager and clients about gardening needs

    Requirements

    • Love of the outdoors, trees, plants, and garden spaces
    • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
    • Ability to work both independently and with a team
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • 1-2 years experience in the green industry a plus
    • Strong work ethic, demonstrable ability in prioritization

  • Fine Gardener, Urban Spaces

    Parterre Garden Services, one of Greater Boston’s leading horticultural services and fine gardening companies, is searching for eager individuals with a passion for gardening for our growing division.     As a Horticulturist at Parterre’s Urban Spaces Division, you will work in a fast-paced environment where every detail is important. We specialize in exceptional container design, but also care for all aspects of our client’s spaces – from trees and shrubs to perennials, hardscape, fountains, pest management, and holiday decor. Our urban gardeners work in some of the most beautiful spaces in Boston, primarily in private residences in Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and the South End.

  • Ecological Field Technician

    Parterre Ecological Services is Greater Boston’s ecological restoration team. We integrate principles of restoration ecology and horticulture to protect, promote, and restore native plant communities. We are a dedicated team that manages the planning, permitting, implementation and ongoing maintenance of a wide range of ecological restoration projects. We produce resilient, low-maintenance restoration solutions that protect open space conservation lands, promote green infrastructure, and restore native plant communities in our urban environments

    As, a Field Technician at Parterre’s Ecological Division, you will be involved in all aspects of ecological restoration projects in the field. A successful candidate must possess strong invasive and native plant identification skills in natural environments, knowledge of restoration planting techniques, invasive plant control methods, and green infrastructure maintenance in urban environments. The Field Technician must possess excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize and document restoration practices in the field while collaborating with other ecological team members. This is a field- based position.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of invasive plant species and management techniques
    • Physical stamina to cut and remove invasive plants in natural environments
    • Knowledge of Massachusetts native plant community types
    • Experience with wetland services, habitat management, endangered species survey or related ecological inventory and assessment
    • Experience writing environmental documentation and client communication
    • Valid MA Driver’s License
    • MA Pesticide Applicators License to be acquired within first 90 days of hire

  • Installation Horticulturist

    Parterre Garden Services, one of Greater Boston’s Leading Horticultural Services and Fine Gardening companies, is searching for an eager individual to join our growing Installation Division. Parterre Garden Services engages in fine gardening services, property and landscape management, custom landscape design, and large-scale landscape installation. At our core are passionate horticulturists and problem solvers who are dedicated to providing expert gardening and construction services throughout the greater Boston Area. We are currently looking for an experienced laborer, interested in learning the horticulture business, and helping us to innovate and improve all aspects of the Installation Division at Parterre Garden Services.

    As a Landscape Installation Horticulturist for Parterre’s Installation Division, you must be a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working in any weather, while maintaining our established high standards of quality and professionalism. The Landscape Installer will report directly to the Installation Manager and work closely with the Project Managers.

    • Tough physical-demanding work building beautiful gardens
    • Prioritizing tasks assigned to you, and improving construction site workflow

    Requirements

    • Construction, or other relevant related experience required
    • Strong background in horticulture, design experience a plus

  • Horticultural Operations Runner

    Parterre Garden Services, one of Greater Boston’s leading horticultural services and fine gardening companies, is searching for an eager individual with a passion for learning all aspects of the horticulture industry from the art of container design to the science of soil-building, and the logistics of how an intimate business in Massachusetts executes diverse projects. At the core of Parterre are driven horticulturists, creative problem solvers, and conscientious managers who are dedicated to providing expert green industry services throughout the Greater Boston Area.

    The Maintenance Runner will be responsible for providing support to Parterre staff in the form of facilitating movement of plant material, landscape associated debris, as well as assisting in unexpected labor demands. A typical day for this position could consist of building containers in Concord, delivering materials to a landscape construction site in Boston, mulching with a gardener in Cambridge, and picking up debris in Newton. The successful candidate must be willing to take direction well, yet have a strong desire to think independently and creatively to solve problems on the run. We are looking for a responsible person who can be trusted with company resources, and employ an organized strategy for tracking day-to-day workings of the business in addition to using their own time efficiently.

    This position will report directly to our Operations Director and Facilities Manager but ultimately works for our client base under the direction of the associated Field Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in delivery and pickup of landscape materials for diverse projects including fine garden maintenance, installation, containers, and ecological services
    • Management of perishable and non-perishable inventories
    • Supporting all levels of Parterre staff

    Requirements

    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs consistently, for at least 8 hours a day/5-6 days a week
    • Professionalism, effective communication (in all forms), and a passion for learning is of utmost importance
    • Strong work ethic, works with a sense of urgency, proven ability in prioritization
    • High level of demonstrable organization and interpersonal skills
    • Valid MA driver’s license and clean driving record
    • Experience operating landscape-related vehicles a plus, licensure even better
    • Horticulture background is a plus, but not required
