  • Landscape Installer / Technician

    This opening is for both the Cambridge and Chatham offices.

    Parterre Garden Services, one of Greater Boston’s Leading Horticultural Services and Fine Gardening companies, is searching for an eager individual to join our growing Installation Division. Parterre Garden Services engages in fine gardening services, property and landscape management, custom landscape design, and large-scale landscape installation. At our core are passionate horticulturists and problem solvers who are dedicated to providing expert gardening services throughout the greater Boston Area. We are currently looking for an experienced laborer, interested in learning the horticulture business, and helping us to innovate and improve all aspects of the Installation Division at Parterre Garden Services.

    The Landscape Installer must be a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working in any weather, while maintaining our established high standards of quality and professionalism. The Landscape Installer will report directly to the Landscape Foreman and work closely with the Project Managers.

  • Field Technician, Ecological Services Division

    Parterre Ecological Services is Greater Boston’s ecological restoration team. We integrate principles of ecology and horticulture to protect, promote, and restore natural habitats in our urban wilds. We are a dedicated team that manages the planning, permitting, implementation and ongoing maintenance of a wide range of ecological restoration projects. We produce resilient, low-maintenance restoration solutions that protect open space conservation lands, promote green infrastructure in urban environments, and restore native plant communities.

    The Field Technician will be involved in all aspects of ecological restoration projects in the field. A successful candidate must possess strong invasive and native plant identification skills in natural environments, knowledge of restoration planting techniques, invasive plant control methods, and green infrastructure maintenance in urban environments. The Field Technician must possess excellent communication and organizational skills; with the ability to independently prioritize and document restoration practices in the field while collaborating with other ecological team members.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Massachusetts native plant communities, invasive plant species and management techniques in natural environments
    • Physical stamina to treat and remove invasive plant species in natural areas, haul debris and compost in varied weather conditions
    • Experience with native plant restoration techniques
    • Experience writing field notes to assist in client communication
    • Valid Driver’s License, MA Pesticide Applicators License and DOT License to be acquired within first 90 days of hire

  • Landscape Architect / Design Services Manager

    This opening is for both the Cambridge and Chatham offices.

    Parterre Garden Services, one of Greater Boston’s leading horticultural services and fine gardening companies is currently seeking a talented and driven Landscape Architect to further establish and grow an already successful Design Division.  Candidates must possess direct experience managing custom detailed residential design and implementation.  This role requires the ability to build new and foster existing relationships with clients and contractors as well as guide clients through all phases or design and facilitate a smooth transition to an installed project.  Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with direct New England experience and strong horticultural aptitude.  Direct experience as lead Architect for Design Build firm a plus.   

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Design and sell landscape design and construction projects to residential clients.
    • Supervise and coordinate landscape and hardscape installation projects with crew foremen.
    • Ensure that customers are completely satisfied through effective communication, relationship building and regular site visits

    Requirements

    • Must be a graduate of an ASLA-accredited School
    • Landscape Design and/or Horticulture degree or equivalent experience preferred; certifications a plus
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and MS Office
    • Advanced plant knowledge necessary (trees, shrubs and perennials)
    • On site management a plus and field experience necessary
    • 3 years minimum experience in landscape design & sales
    • Ability to prepare proposals, contracts, estimates & designs
    • Ability to calculate budgets, labor & material costs

    • Excellent time management skills

    Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Coordinator position is responsible for managing all project planning and coordination within our facilities in Cambridge, MA. The Facilities Coordinator will also take direction from other managers in the Company on a project basis to support the business as a whole.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Receive and process daily plant inventory
    • Conduct routine inventory counts
    • Oversee and monitor overall plant health
    • Maintain organized inventory logs for monthly billing and reconciliation
    • Ensure facilities are kept neat, safe and organized at all times
    • Maintain all site repair and improvements activities
    • Effectively manage tool inventory and outdoor power equipment, cleaning and repair when necessary

  • Horticultural Operations Runner, Maintenance Division

    Parterre Garden Services, one of Greater Boston’s leading horticultural services and fine gardening companies, is beginning the search for an eager individual with a passion for learning all aspects of the horticulture industry from the art of container design to the science of soil-building, and the logistics of how an intimate business in Massachusetts executes diverse projects. At the core of Parterre are driven horticulturists, creative problem solvers, and conscientious managers who are dedicated to providing expert green industry services throughout the Greater Boston Area.

    The Maintenance Runner will be responsible for providing support to Parterre staff in the form of facilitating movement of plant material, landscape associated debris, as well as assisting in unexpected labor demands. A typical day for this position could consist of building containers in Concord, delivering materials to a landscape construction site in Boston, mulching with a gardener in Cambridge, and then picking up debris in Newton. The successful candidate must be willing to take direction well, yet have a strong desire to think independently and creatively solve problems on the run. We are looking for a responsible person who can be trusted with company resources, and employ an organized strategy for tracking day-to-day workings of the business in addition to using their own time efficiently.

    This position will report directly to our Operations Manager and Field Director, but ultimately works for our client base under the direction of the associated manager.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Assist in delivery and pickup of landscape materials for diverse projects including fine garden maintenance, installation, containers, and ecological services
    • Management of perishable and non-perishable inventories
    • Supporting all levels of Parterre staff

    Required Skills

    • Professionalism, effective communication (in all forms), and a passion for learning is of utmost importance
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs consistently, for at least 8 hours a day/5-6 days a week

    The Field Manager position at Parterre provides creative opportunities only a small-business allows, with the behind-the-scenes support of an operationally excellent model. To be a successful part of our management structure, one must possess the ability to first prioritize the needs of 35-50 properties, simultaneously manage several gardeners at once, and maintain a high level of professional communication with clients, gardeners, and superiors. Each one of our Field Managers has their own unique management style, and this is paired with our client’s individual needs.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Personally responsible for managing 25-30 outdoor spaces, including all seasonal needs
    • Management of multiple gardeners
    • Ability to apply creative solutions for complex problems
    • Clear, concise reporting to upper management regarding garden/resource/staffing needs

    Required Skills

    • 3+ years tending perennial gardens, caring for shrubs, pruning trees to 12’, personnel management

We are currently looking for an experienced crew leader to assist our project managers in daily execution of elite landscape construction projects.

    The Landscape Foreman must be a motivated self-starter who is comfortable being wholly responsible for on-site installation management, communication of installation project deliverables, prompt identification of problematic site conditions, daily job reporting, communication with project managers, all while maintaining our established high standards of quality and professionalism. The Landscape Construction Foreman will report directly to the Project Managers and work closely with our clients, landscape laborers, gardeners, and Field Managers.

    We are looking for a unique and highly organized person with significant experience in landscape construction, design, horticulture, and project management. Must have experience in on-site prioritization, personnel management, and building intimate, yet strong, relationships with subcontractors, clients, and most importantly our crew members.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Timeline management of multiple, overlapping projects, high in complexity
    • On-site management alongside highly experienced project managers, as well as general oversight of labor force
    • Consistent, complete, and concise reporting to Project Managers

    Required Skills

    • Landscape construction, and site management experience
